I hunted for a motion
Be it land or by sea
But the froth and commotion
Had to hypnotize me
So I took a long walk
Down the Chesapeake Bay
‘Til I landed chest-first
With a gob-full of clay

When I widened my view
For the clouds and the clear
I could hardly see through
A flock of heron on the pier
They were dancing all deranged
They were posing with the sky
And as if it wasn’t strange
You were leading them awry

So they danced
And they pranced
In a melancholy way
Like a slow-motion blur
Like a reason I should pray
For if this were not majestic
And if any other day
Next I’ll better go to Mystic
Not to Chesapeake Bay

I have a confession! I have been to Mystic, but I have never taken a walk along Chesapeake Bay! Mystic itself wasn’t all that incredible, to be honest. I was probably too young to notice the quality of life in the area. I can attest to the quality of their aquarium. And wow, the focus on whaling and fishing history? You won’t find many aquariums with that kind of focus. Everyone wants to see the fish, but nobody wants to know about our nautical interactions or the history thereof.
