Have you ever created something you were so fond of that you kept coming back to it? I don’t think it’s pride, no. I just like what I’m doing with this project.

Counting Stars

Do the stars watch
Or are they safe at home
Are they crying to sleep
Are they better off alone
Are they hoping for someone
Or somewhere
That they’ve never been
Will you learn they ran away
Or will they let you in

Are they hopeful
Just counting the grass
Are they counting on you
Or do they give up fast
‘Cause the middle
It takes and it breaks
But it never ends

I counted all the stars I saw when
Lying in the snow
I took a chance on certainty
and said I’d never go
And in the time I turned around
I heard you call my name
So now I’m back to hold you close
If you’d still do the same

If you know
If you still know the dark
If you still feel it’s colder than December
Then will you remember your heart?

Do the stars watch
Or are they safe at home
Are they crying to sleep
Are they better off alone
Are they hoping for someone
Or somewhere
That they’ve never been
Will you learn they ran away
Or will they let you in

If you feel
Like the way home
Is just a step away
Then why are we insisting to roam
When will the stars come home?
I lost the last piece in the mud
It swept away with tears
I’ll reach for what I’m dreaming of
Before it disappears

Will the stars watch
Will they remember me
Am I blazing past to come in last
Or living canopy
Will they hurt me more if I adore
The memories we made

Do the stars think well
Of who we are
Or will we simply fade

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I think I’m a little too happy with the way this one is taking shape. Made some changes here and there, brought the melody in stronger… Yeah, but is it the last we’ll see of it? Only the stars know!
