Seasonal depression is a real problem, isn’t it? During half the year, we can get outside and feel the sun on our backs, while the rest of our days find dependency by the glow of the hearth. But what if it worked the other way around? How does that work?

Well, I’m blessed with an inverse issue. My seasonal allergy is so bad that I can hardly leave my home to take in my requisite vitamin d. Winter is my favorite season. It means I can breathe easier, even when I have a cold. I used to like sweating. It meant I was working hard. Now for personal reasons, I’m not able to. It’s stifling. It’s a slow destruction. Maybe a little gross too.

Grape hyacinth. Do they make you hungry too? I could go for some grapes... Don't eat out of boredom or depression though!
But sometimes I leave home anyway!

Get out there and grab the sun if you can. I’ll be tanning by the window, watching the world do its thing, and doing what I do best to kick the beast. The depression. It’s song time.

Where Are You, Me?

Where then did I put my everything
That everything I knew
These fields and fauna new to me
The birds come flying true

My empty heart has nowhere
For water passing through
So where’d I put my everything
That everything I knew

Oh, seven years of hardship
I’d spent in solitude
These seven years are coming still
To strike a sorry mood

I can’t evade or question
Just trod along these boots
For fear a nary mention
I’ll sow these fickle roots

Marry me
To the certain end I seek
Marry me
To the tides inside the creek

Carry me
To the endless that awaits
Carry me
Beyond those shining gates

So take me to the river
So take me to my friends
And take me to the sovereign
The one who make amends

My lover for a maker
My time will come and go
Oh, take me to the farm again
The place I once did know

Kick that Sadness and Hopelessness for a Second

Glad to see you on the other side. If you’re looking to share a little something with your friends, try this on for size. It’s one of my best short works, and great for kicking your depression for a spell. If you want to change your world, respecting the issue and getting to know it can help. Get back out there and take what you want.
