The outset lied
‘Twas the innermost workings of a
Genius giant’s unbeatable smile
And the furtive ways your ellipsis swayed
Gave me all I needed to know, gentile

The saxophone
Of a rolling stone was only
Half the story you’d drawn to life
And the rest seen best in the way you dressed
All accompanied by bubbles and a butter knife

Tell me who I tell you who you are
Know I knew the moonlight from a star
Who can say what’s better
Take it from you, you rogue go-getter
Can I resist
A fluttering kiss
Aim for a stab in the dark

Now the secret’s you, save your hullabaloo
With your clip-on tie and your je ne sais quoi
I’m looking for a dandy who’s a storefront candy
Not a simpleton or sucker, just the sugar in raw
