It’s a rough world out there without kindness. We’re all expected to be able to multi-task and perform above our pay grade. How do we even enter a new profession with all the pay cuts and corporate shrinking exercises? Honestly, with companies choosing to downsize in order to save a percentage, they forget it’s less than a long-term investment and see it as an improvement to their bottom line. Remember when CEOs would take a pay cut in order to help their business keep going? Remember when it wasn’t all about optics, but the health of the company and its employees? I don’t. But what do I know? It’s not like I’ve gazed into the complex corporate gears for the last 20 years and have sage advice from the top. No, really, I don’t, because I haven’t.

But That Would Be Pretty Cool

I meet people on the street who ask for spare change on the way. Choosing kindness, I complimented a man on his choice of attire, saying the color yellow suited him. I called him sunshine! He asked me for a bus ticket. He didn’t have anything to say about a previous kindness and went straight to expecting more. Tell me. When was the last time you received a compliment back? I’m not fishing for them, but it’s a strange world when people expect money from strangers without even trying to be polite. I told him I don’t carry cash. He asked for 50 cents and laughed. I’m not haggling with a stranger for hand-outs! Goodness gracious, why would I carry 50 cents on my person? I would carry it for my convenience, surely.

But, well, I honestly don’t know what I ought expect from a man I don’t know. Probably “nothing”. It’s only fair, when I don’t know a man, that I expect just as much. That’s my story for today. I went for a walk, complimented a man, and received disbelief after my kindness. Take care, and stay cool! After all, it’s a hot one today!
