If the libraries taught chivalries
As well as sacrifices
No-one’d care ’bout right and fair
Since evil strays from vices

But they purvey most anything
And some we don’t yet know of
Exaggerated perjuries
So how did we develop

I think it highly curious
I find it who-knows where
A life unlearning “howdy-hey”
Has taught us not to care

For ignorance is relevance
And has become a buzz-word
The fanciful made feverish
And ballroom dancing absurd

Teach me how to do-si-do
More cottoner than candy
I want to let the people know
I’m fit and twice as dandy

Wish upon a harlequin
Their diamonds back the stars
I’ll teach them too in lieu of you
For once rest on your scars

I’m grateful for your listening
I prattled far too long
I’m off to dream my finer things
And list them like a song
