What makes a teacher great?

A teacher can only teach when they’re open to learning alongside their student. Sure, there are many steadfast memories of a “Miss Klemp” out there, armed and ready to get their hands dirty, but… you need that personal touch. You need a willingness to hear where the kid is coming from.

If you get into the business to teach systems of education, you’re going to view each kid as a number. You start because everyone’s okay to be an idiot, and can be guided toward betterment.

I know it’s hard not to drown in the abyss of kids’ jeering at our idiosyncrasies. We need to be earnest and honest toward our futures, while kind and open with them.
