Okay, real talk here. You’ve worried about being that guy before. Multiple times before. I know it’s a seemingly irrational fear, to think that you’ll do something or say something that casts you out of your group. It’s not all that irrational though, actually.
From the very start of mankind, we had to band together to catch game and manage resources. What other way was there for humanity to thrive than for members of the tribe to dedicate themselves to a craft and fit in?
The fisherman fishes, the baker bakes, and the experienced teach the next generation. What next, the hunter hunts? I should hope so. There is a generalized task that each member need tend to, however.
The Tribe of That Guy
In order for a tribe to succeed, it’s necessary to treat each other with respect worthy of a thriving community. Without that respect, the community will fall apart. Lately, people feel more lost than ever. Dissent thrown to the public eye, a roaring populous confused.
Individualism is often used to mask anarchism and anti-social disorderly conduct. What isn’t embarrassingly attributed to racial label defense is thrown to a potentially terrifying mantra:
I’m Just Being Me!
What does that all include, though? That’s when crowds can’t handle themselves in a mob mentality of roaring personality, all vying for a place in history. It’s a whirlwind of conflicting, loud voices, and it’s easy to lose yourself.
Unfortunately, there’s no secret formula for success or grand fulfillment. The best advice I can give to the aspiring human being is,
“Be mindful of your surroundings, but be more mindful of your own purpose. Don’t let others dictate your purpose.”
If you let yourself be meek, under the boot of your fellow man, you will fall. Stay strong, my gorgeous wild horses.
