When over the spray
To the island we call home
Ye land to the bay
In my letter
Call out to me, darling
I’ll leap upon the day
When two lines in the sand
Wash together
I knew once, a boy
Slinging charms along the moss
How he sang, as a band
To the flora
With the sun in his arms
Playing tunes on whittled toy
Did the father of the forest
Live forever?
But now, as the man
How he’s far from forest nook
From the knolls to atolls
His adventure
He knows not the fathoms
Of where his journey took
Yet the sun’s summer shine
Keeps him clever
When over the spray
To the island we call home
Ye land to the bay
In my letter
Call out to me, darling
I’ll leap upon the day
When two lines in the sand
Wash together
He met there a lamb
Jumping fevers on the shore
While he walked, open mind
To the weather
She asked for his hand
And he gave it, never sure
But he’d give her a time
To remember
They ran through the water
The rocks along the shoal
Those eve summer rays
Made them leather
She’d want for a daughter
Her head would take a stroll
On ambrosia they drank
Through September
When over the spray
To the island we call home
Ye land to the bay
In my letter
Call out to me, darling
I’ll leap upon the day
When two lines in the sand
Wash together
