I heard something interesting yesterday. I’m paraphrasing, but,

“You only live one day, because tomorrow is a new you, based on today’s efforts.”

But that’s just a simplification of my understanding. If you want the full video that helped me toward that understanding, check this out!

And wow, that’s a thought. I can definitely take that into my own life, and I believe you can too. We die every night to become a slightly more advanced version of ourselves. That’s intense!

Then every time you leave something unfinished for tomorrow, that future self is less likely to actually finish that task. Yeah, that checks out. So then, here’s a song I wrote with that inspiration to drive it…

Tomorrow’s History’s Mess

They left my bones to a roll
I’m at a loss for a groove
The brain’s been taking a toll
My body struggles to move

I hired heartache and shame
To win some fortune and fame
‘Cause if I tried anymore
I’d find a part in the blame

I’m looking out for a god
I’m looking out for the lies
Where sin and soldier have trod
And men who angels despise

‘Cause all I have is regret
And all I peddle is less
I’m losing somebody’s bet
To clean a history’s mess

I think I’m taking control
The things I hated since young
Are just a part of my role
They’re not the man I’ll become

I’m painting up on my walls
The fear I’m hoping to beat
The crying turning to calls
My crisis almost complete

And if I think it’s all done
The path I’m walking so far
I swear I’ll fight ’til I won
Or else slam into a car

I know it’s crazy but it’s true
The things won’t change unless we do
So take a cycle with the sun
Keep the light’s and spare the gun
